Visit to Guarda, Souropires, and Freixedas
Guarda, the highest city in Portugal, encloses within its walls over 800 years of history and holds one of the most beautiful and best-preserved built heritages in the entire country. Souropires is a village that presents an unexpected national monument, in abandonment, the Solar dos Távoras, associated with the royal family and its loves and sorrows. In this solar, medieval and Renaissance characteristics are outlined. Freixedas is a village with traces of settlement dating back to Roman times. Its population extends in the shadow of the main church that dominates the traditional houses, where constructions of the regional aristocracy stand out; some manors are characteristic of the 17th and 18th centuries.
